I don’t know for you, but Spring is definitely one of my favourite seasons! Flowers start to bloom, insects re-appear and every one gets back outside to enjoy the sun and warmer weather. It just feels so delicious and vibrant! A great way to celebrate the return of Spring is to gently cleanse/ detox your body. Throughout the colder months, it is so natural and intuitive to layer up, move less, and indulge in denser foods that are warm and comforting. For this reason, cleansing your body as Spring arrives is an excellent way to re-awaken your vital energy and to start fresh. There are many ways to cleanse your body but today I would like to share with you: 5 easy detox tips that you should try this Spring for increased vitality. 

 

I promise you these tips are super easy to incorporate into your daily routine and it won’t be expensive either. Not everyone is ready for an intensive juice cleanse and that’s okay!

1. Get More Oxygen

Many people forget that the lungs are another great way that our bodies detoxify as well. Therefore, getting outside in Nature (preferably to get more clean & fresh oxygen) on a daily basis for a walk, gentle jog, or run is an excellent way to detox this Spring. Take advantage of the longer days and warmer temperatures.

2. Eat Colorful Meals

And by that I mean naturally colorful meals. The kinds that are full of vibrant colors because they contain lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. Fruits and veggies are full of anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals. All of these micro-nutrients are essential for your body to fight free-radicals and to get rid of unwanted toxins.

3. Get Your Sweating On

Another great way to boost detoxification within your body is to sweat. Doing a rigorous form of exercise 3 to 5 times per week is an excellent way to boost your lymphatic system and expel unwanted toxins from your body. Plus, it will also boost your mood and immune system. As an alternative, saunas are another great way to detoxify.

4. Drink Lemon Water

I have said it so many times but I will say it again: drinking some warm lemon water in the morning has so many health benefits! One of them being that lemon will enhance the detoxification process of your liver. It’s an easy practice that you can incorporate into your daily routine first thing in the morning. Lemon water will also re-hydrate your body and boost your immune system!

5. Quit The Processed Stuff

And by processed stuff, I mean: processed sugar, processed grains, and processed foods. As much as pre-packaged meals are super convenient, they do absolutely nothing beneficial for your body. On top of that processed sugars and processed grains actually harm your body, lead to more weight gain, lethargy and moodiness (Find out more in this article: here). Do yourself a favour and simply eliminate all processed foods from your diet for a few weeks. Instead favour nutrients-dense and whole foods. Yes, it will require a little bit more effort  and preparation in the kitchen but trust me, it is so worth it given how great you will feel.
