The weather has been cooling down in Madrid, which feels ah-mazing after months of intense heat! But it also reminds me of what Fall feels like: cool air, trees changing colours, warm spices and… golden milk lattes! I had my first one earlier this week and it was pure heaven. It was then that I realized I had never shared this super easy drink with you. So today’s post is all about one of my favourite warm drinks: The Golden Milk Latte.

First, let’s address what the heck is a Golden Milk Latte? Well, it’s basically a latte made with turmeric and other few spices. But the turmeric is what gives it its distinctive yellow hue.

What is turmeric?

It is a potent spice and superfood known for its super anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also the spice that gives curry its yellow colour.

It makes for the perfect spice to add into your meals throughout the fall and winter season as it will reinforce your immune system. It doesn’t have a strong flavour, but it will stain anything it touches a bright orange/yellow/golden colour – you’ve been warned ;).

Golden Milk Latte

Now for the recipe… It is so easy that I am sure this recipe will quickly become a staple in your house too. All you need for this:

Golden Milk Latte

is:

  • 1 cup of coconut milk (or almond milk – but feel free to use a milk of your choice)
  • 1 tsp of turmeric (ground or fresh, up to you)
  • 1 tsp of freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp of raw honey (or stevia or maple syrup)
  • dash of black pepper (to make it spicier)

HOW TO:

Start by warming up your milk, then add the rest of the ingredients off the stove. Once everything is well combined, use a frother or blender to make your latte nice and creamy.

And that’s it! Isn’t that super easy? Now go ahead and enjoy your own Golden Milk Latte :).

Stay vibrant,

Sarah.
