5 Winter Food Hacks To Keep Warm

1. Spice Things Up

Using warming spices such as cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cumin, coriander, black pepper and cayenne pepper is a great way to not only add some flavour to your favourite dishes, but also an excellent way to naturally generate some heat from within. So remember to spice up your favourite stews, soups, casseroles or add them with some hot water to create a warming tea, like this Golden Milk Latte.

2. Load Up On Fats

Healthy fats are another great way to add some much needed insulation to your body so that you can keep your natural heat locked in. So don’t be shy in using foods like nuts, seeds, nuts/seeds butters, avocados, coconut oil, olive oil, eggs or even fish. Adding these foods to your diet will definitely help you layer up from within.

4. Choose Warming Greens

Yes, leafy greens can also help you generate heat naturally from within. Especially the ones that are naturally a little spicy and warming such as wintergreens, mustard greens or arugula. Add some greens to your diet daily to nourish your immune system and give you that natural glow too.

5. Favour Roasting + Baking Your Foods

This might seem obvious but using your oven more often in the colder months is the ultimate way to not only keep you warm from the outside in, but of course from within as well. Have fun creating new casserole dishes, roasting your veggies or baking delicious comforting sweet treats like this delicious banana bread or these healthy chocolate brownies.
